He was incredibly confusd when he first came through. That's probably why he's using BB.
Or the GMs didn't pay much attention to his story.

Could be using it as an alias the same as the other characters are using aliases. Still if he had a serious case of That Man Is Dead like someone mentioned before, that might discount the theory. I'm not too knowledgeable on this 'verse. Sorry.

Oh, trust me, he does. Right up until he kills Turpin, he REFUSES to go by that name.

He may be referring to himself as Barker because nobody here knows him, so there's no point using a pseudonym. In the play he goes back to his own neighborhood, where everyone knows that Benjamin Barker is supposed to be in Australia for the rest of his life.

Sounds like it's past time for me to pay a visit to the library and see if they have anything on Sweeny Todd there.

New update by the psychiatrist. Dunno about any of you, but I think Ms. Matters is actually making headway. Thoughts?

I suggested it before, but nobody took me seriously, but I think he may be treatable. And I really do hope that's true. We really don't want to see anybody in the real world die at the hands of one of these fictionals.

She also seems to have drawn the attention of the spambots. Oh joy. Like I said before, I would laugh my ass off if they someone turn those into a plot point.

Hmm let's see....what if these spambots were evil tropers or fictional characters out to destroy this ARG and it's up to us and the MetaGuards to stop them. And :gurt: LimeMan :gurt: will save the day.

But that's my two cents. But I like the progress here anyway. Can they just confirm it's Sweeney/Benjamin now. It's so damn clear. It's essentially the Untwist.

We pretty much know it's him. There's the violent crimes, initials BB, his wife is called Lucy and was raped. I don't really see why it hasn't been 'officially' confirmed yet, unless they have some form of big reveal planned.

I know that but yeah I'm wondering why it hasn't been officially confirmed.

My guess is because we can't contact him (yet). Once he joins the twitter list or makes a blog for himself, or anything really, then it'll be confirmed.

I don't think we need a blog or anything for confirmation. Mr. A just has to mention it on twitter.

I know, it's just that there little point to it when we can't reach the PoI directly. And a confrimation would mean his privacy rights where breached, as only the therapist is supposed to know his name. Some sort of In-Game-Meta justification... Fridge Logic, perhaps... Or just me talking too much to Sicon.

I'd say confirming the patient is Benjamin Barker would be out of character for the therapist.

Yeah I guess so. Anyways there's so far no new updates. Also we finally have the therapist's name: Joan Lawson. It's a small but nice development. Finally have a name to the person who named her cats Carl and Jung.

I'm guessing this is the best thread to continue our conversation in. A little while ago, two of us have mentioned that the story of Joan's patient sounds like that of Sweeney Todd's. How could she react, and what should we do after that?

I say we get her on our side... But I'm not sure how you convince her about messed-up stuff like this.

I vote we wait for a response. If she's willing to believe us, we show her the forum. If she's not, we wait for her to make more progress on Sweeney. If she doesn't respond, we know we're on the wrong track.

Wait, we can't show her the forum... she'd find out about us cracking her messages. Aargh!

Sigh, well it got results so I guess there's no sense in worrying about it now. let's wait an see if we can convince her of the truth, then we shall worry about what she knows we did.

On the Sweeney Todd topic, I haven’t actually seen the movie or the play. Are the stories really that similar? I’ll try and have a look into that this week. It certainly would be interesting.

I think our hints may be working! She's gonna check out some stuff on Sweeny Todd! :D

The thing I'm worried about now (because I worry about everything) is that Sweeney will figure out that she's "onto" him (he'll be threatened by her potentially finding out who he is).

If that happens she will be grave danger and we can't let that happen since her "patient" is a serial killer.

Oh lord, I never even thought of that. Why is there no facepalm emoticon on this site?

Well I guess this way at least she'll KNOW there's a threat, I mean, he's dangerous either way, and knowing is better than not knowing, right? And given what she's put up with so far... I don't know. She seems a tough cookie, I hope she can handle herself well enough but we should do our best to protect her, either way.

At the risk of sounding HORRIFICALLY cliche, she could honestly be his last chance for redemption. Let's try not to make that at the expense of her safety.

Ok... I guess we should tell her about the other fictional characters expect Sweeny until she asks and give her Mr.A's contact info and also the annocement video
