How is the character connected to London? The therapist is in Boston.

Read the last post. He claims to have been born in London. Moreover, the therapist seems to imply that he was in London until he arrived in this world with that whole, "how he got to the US" section. So yea, a dead end, I'm afraid.

No problem. Now I just have to figure out just what the hell the real answer is. I haven't managed to discount the possibility of it being V yet, so he is still in the running. Anyhow, I'm going to head to bed shortly, so I'll think on it overnight.

Had no luck with the patient, so I decided to take a more direct route and asked MikeCharlie if he is referring to Winston Smith.

I never thought of Mowgli as an anti-hero anarchist lol.

Just like there will always be someone better, there will always be someone much, much worse.

Slight derailment.

EDIT: Although I'm tempted to make a "just for pun" thread.

Mayhap we should start a "Missing Persons Division" to track down people like Stein and Elphaba, and provisionally people like Moore and Raike who've dropped off the map.

Wrong thread.

I know someone said they explained why it can't be Winston from 1984, but I can't seem to find said explanation. So here's why I think it's not him.

Subject A is entirely too bold. Winston was exposed to the most soul-crushing treatment his author could concoct and ultimately brainwashed into loving Big Brother. Shortly thereafter, he was killed. So that's a slight problem.

Also, if you assume he was extracted prior to his torture, he certainly would have the will to resist, but he wouldn't fit the "betrayed by someone in power" criterion.

Unless he was extracted during torture. Then it would fit. But I agree, I don't think it's him.

Did everyone see Minds And Matters' latest blog post.

He seems to be infatuated with women. Now I have the sudden feeling he's Romeo. I know it doesn't fit with everything we already know about the patient, but what if it really is Romeo? I don't know. Maybe there are other characters that are just as romantic that would fit better, but I just think it would be so cool if it were Romeo.

Makes sense. A lot more than mine. I'm still rooting for Romeo.

I think your looking at it the wrong way. I think there was only one woman, and she either betrayed him or died.

He got that distant look in his eyes again and said “they stay with you, don’t they? Even when they’re gone, they’re still in your head. They never leave.”

I swear that's a line from Sweeney Todd.

EDIT: It IS Sweeney (or at least referencing it). The "Everyone deserves to die" thing is a huge plot point in the movie (and probably in the play, too, but I haven't seen that). Maybe she should try singing to him?

But she needs to make sure not to let him near any razors.

I haven't seen Sweney Todd, so I'm not sure. Is there a character that fits the patient?

A very compelling theory. I haven't seen the play or the movie or anything close, but reading through his biography and through quotes from the movies, it sounds right on. Singing might not be a bad idea. I wonder if he'll really sing back. I think it's worth a shot.

If any, it would be Sweeney Todd. The play takes place in London (or somewhere in England, I think it was London but I'm not sure), he traveled a lot prior to the start of the play's events, and the two things he said in the latest post are very important to his character. I have no idea how the animal activism would tie in, though.
