Refictionalization: Sweeney Todd

I figure now that we've got confirmation from Mr. A, we should have a thread dedicated to Todd's refictionalization.

This is NOT to discuss what to write-- remember, it's a free-for-all like the Wall Emergencies.
What this IS is a place to make sure we know what tropes we can/must use for him, to make sure that at least SOMEONE'S going to write him one, and to get clarification about his source material.

Todd's echo is here.
And feel free to add tropes we come up with here to his entry on the Character Page.

Possible tropes:

The Power of Friendship?

I disagree. Note how in his comic he mentions the strength he's found through his friends.

Driving Question? She asks him what his goals are. He seems aimless here, doesn't he?

Locked out of the loop, perhaps.

First, considering that Mr. A has replied with "USE YOUR BEST JUDGEMENT" when asked about the tropes to pick, we are free to use any tropes as long as it's not Square Peg, Round Trope.
I'd say Freudian Couch really is what comes to mind, but it would be out of place in his setting, unless you can emulate the experience (like him actually lying on a couch and monologuing in front of somebody). Driving Question fits, but I think there's something wrong with that. Can't pinpoint it. :| Will think harder about it later.

I like Armor-Piercing Question better than Driving Question, simply because of Todd's refusal to answer.

Now that Todd's temper tantrum is over, should we reshift our efforts on writing Todd's refictionalization story? Do we have a time limit or a deadline?

I suggest preparing, but waiting for the next update just in case, to see how that new session goes. Optimally, we want him a little more... over his issues before we send him back. Otherwise his raging insanity may still mess things up for him.

It looks like now we know how we're supposed to submit our refictionalization stories...

And I may try a Sweeney Todd poem, despite my unfamiliarity with the source material.

That's interesting. So it appears that either Lawson or Todd will get the final say as to which story gets made into canon.

And now we have a focus. End the story in a way that allows Sweeney to change someone's life through the power of friendship.

*smugface*

That's all I have to say here.

Apart from that I'll try to work on something over the next few days. I'll go for a short story since it's more my speed.

When you send the fiction... Ask her to film her reaction, or something. I want to see the look on her face when he disappears. :D

YES! Ask her to record the session! Say it's so Todd can talk to us and tell us what he thinks of it!

I guess we should wait until we actually start posting the fiction - it will look suspicious otherwise. But in the very least, I think we can convince her to do an audio recording.

The deadline for Todd refictionalizations is Wednesday at 6 pm.
Though I don't know what timezone the therapist is on, so... better safe than sorry.
If you want to compete with me and H on this, get cracking, people!

I'll hardly be useful on that. Maybe I will try something tomorrow, but that's not very likely.
Also, my illiteracy is biting me in the ass again. :(

I have a feeling her timezone is GMT -5, since she's in Boston.

I... really won't be able to do this in the form of a poem. Boring old prose from me, sorry.

The therapist should be meeting with Sweeney now. We'll know what the result was "in the next few days."
