I thought afterwards that disguising himself as Poirot and waiting for her to wake again was more likely. I don't think he'd get away with changing the clocks.

At the hotel I discovered construction going on in the reception area – particularly around the grand centerpiece where multiple angels adorn an old-fashioned clock built into the south wall. Perhaps Saint-Jerome used the scaffolding to his advantage, and used it to hide himself in plain sight.

Too many people commented on Hef's blog at once and now he's even more suspicious. He's also rather hypocritical about trusting someone who only appeared a couple of weeks ago but I don't think bringing that up would go down well.

What do you mean right on what? Right about the artist resetting the clock, of course. Old fashioned, decorative clocks such as the one he describes are built into the wall, and so must be adjusted from outside via a ladder, or in this case scaffolding.

The clock might have been changed. Verhaeren drew the receptionist's attention to it by asking her what time it was. Given conservation of narrative detail, that indicates the clock is relevant to the story. Also, Moore may have plotted somehow to have the receptionist notice the clock so that she could be mislead as to how long Poirot was in the hotel.

If you look at the comments, I got two very useful comments through modding. The one with my clock theory and the one I just sent in reply to his reaction to all the posts. His reactions would have told me a lot, but he managed to Take A Third Option and go on the run from the fuzz.

Indeed. Moriarty is my main suspect. I just examined Poirot's blog, and there is no way he know enough to report him unless he was acting the whole time.

Fix'd. If it was a Thanatos Gambit, Moriarty would have to be dead. Unfortunately, he isn't. Also, I'm not too sure about him sending the letter. Just like with the artist before I realized he messed with the clock, I've got this nagging feeling in the back of my head...

EDIT: And what he pulled is actually a Batman Gambit, as it relied on us acting the right way. Xanatos Gambits are like what I did with Lime-man; they predict every possible outcome and plan for them all. Though actually my variant is more like Xanatos Speed Chess, as I've been running on my random caffeine fueled trains of thought since the beginning of this game, just grabbing whatever I can use to my advantage and running with it.

I disagree. I'm sure Moriarty sent the letter but I think it was to try turn us against Holmes.
