Another point of interest, as I was reading through the backlog of Hefner's blog, I came across this post. Apparently Hefner is staying with James, who is the nephew of the Mrs. Widdecombe that Poirot is staying with.

DAMN YOU XANATOS GAMBIT

Fix'd. If it was a Thanatos Gambit, Moriarty would have to be dead. Unfortunately, he isn't. Also, I'm not too sure about him sending the letter. Just like with the artist before I realized he messed with the clock, I've got this nagging feeling in the back of my head...

My mistake. It's a Xanatos Gambit (already fixed). But, in the timeline, the most probable sender of the letter was Moore, and IF it was him, and he is GUILTY of this conspiracy, we are screwed. I suggest we start to counter-plan it. Just in case. (I'm sure there is a trope for that, but I can't remember the name) (found it, Gambit Pileup, or even Xanatos Speed Chess, I don't know now)

Can anyone think of someone else who sent the letter? I'm sure it's Moriarty because no one else would both know about Holmes and want people to be against him.

Like I covered in my edit, Xanatos Speed Chess is my real specialty. I'm already working on it. Give me some time to clear my head, and I should be able to get rolling.

Ummmm...

"Tell me Monsieur Adell, I have to know quickly! What was in that letter? I have gotten forewarning that authorities from Mrs. Widdecombe are coming my way! Somebody has informed the English bobby of me in suspicion of the Verhaeren murder, and I do not know who it is but perhaps it begins with an H!"

Well more shit. Going meta for a moment someones really against us moving the plot in the other direction.

EDIT: Sending him the letter really wouldn't help our cause but as I said I think that's a bit redundant now.

The voices in my head tell me that we saved the world. However, they also told me that George Clooney's face is on the dollar bill, so... meh. The voices are more fun, anyway.

Given that the Cat alludes to some characters not making it out of this alive, I'm not very hopeful.

Should we tell Poirot about the letter?

Yes because I think Adell said he's working. One person though, too many people made Holmes supicious.

EDIT: BE CAREFUL. If he takes the letter at face value it'll make it worse.

Wow. I get caught up with events just as things start to get interesting!

Yes. Say that we are associates of Adell, working on the mystery he mentioned earlier. Leave out that it is related to their own case. Might be best just to say that the letter lead us to discover Holmes' blog.

Tried to send him the letter, but someone else posted too. I doubt he is in a position to care much though.

I gave enough info to soften the blow of the letter, and he is in no place to get Holmes in trouble. Yet. I can't say exactly why I told him, but I just got this feeling in my gut that I had to. Three years of TV Troping and innumerable books, shows, comics, and movies have raised my Genre Savvyness to the level of a sixth sense, so when I get a feeling like this, it usually turns out well. Let's hope I was right this time too.

Perfect. That was the best possible response. My intuition was right. OK, it's time to get cracking! Someone hit the Two Steps From Hell!

Don't worry about it! You did fine. Everything is going JUST. AS. PLANNED.*

Note 1: Just as planed approximately fifteen seconds before this post.

So, what's next? Do we await responses from Cheshire and Mr. A on the matter?

So. Both Poirot and Holmes are on the run, and will probably continue to try and incriminate each other to clear their own names, despite our warnings. And honestly, I don't blame them. Who would trust a bunch of people over the internet?

It's a pity I'm worried about Moriaty coming after me, else I would go poking around myself. I'm in London most of the time myself, after all. At least, I believe this is happening in London somewhere (big place).

One last thing. If Moriaty sent Joe that letter, is it possible that he's reading this forum? He might have sent the authorities after them in response to our actions.

Nonetheless, what's done is done. All we can focus on now is the therapist's patient and whatever riddles Mr. A throws our way.

These developments are inexplicably exciting to me.

Um... anybody got any ideas as to if and how we CAN reconscile them? Is it possible? Or have we interferred too much as it is? I am rather intimidated by the idea of two of fictions greatest detectives going for each other (ah, one of the oldest staples of crossovers: Lets You and Him Fight.)

Still, they're good detectives. I'm sure they'll gather their nerves and with them their wits, very rapidly and get back to doing what we all know they do best - solving the crime at hand.
They sometimes say, "the place where I am right now was circled on a map for me"... Unfortunately, I kind of suck at orienteering.
