What was the point of this guy?

I understand that he was the guy that sent in the mermaid footage and would eventually find and dispose of Quixote's chainmail. But what about the other videos? Why did they even exist? Why did you throw in a story about a crazy man, a camera, and a dead wife?

Some of you may be aware that I posted a WMG (possibly on the chat) about Farrell being a fictional who thought that his wife was trapped inside his video camera and trying to bring her out by filming everything he could find. I actually preferred this theory to the actual revelation that he was just a guy mourning for his wife.

But was there some kind of story behind this guy, besides what we already know? None of the other footage contributors were nearly this developed.

Here is the story:

I'm a troll. (Surprise! That's an explanation for a lot of things.)

Alex made me do ADR for the first video, and he wanted me to use this really messed up voice I did it once as a joke. And that voice is certainly interesting, as you know -- there was an entire thread about it.

So after recording, everyone found the video hilarious, largely because of the voice. At one point I pulled a joke out of my ass along the lines of:

"Guys. What if we did a series of this videos. With Nick Farrell being way too amazed with mundane things and calling his wife over. ...and then, at the end... HIS WIFE IS DEAD."

And then we actually wound up doing it.

We made it an ARG within an ARG, curious if anyone would ever notice. And then wound up using it to deliver some brick jokes and other ARG tie in things.

Somehow, this explanation doesn't surprise me haha. I would love for this guy to get brought up as some sort of brick joke in the future though lol

All it takes is to crack me up is for someone to type in the GM chat,

HONEY.
HONEY.

Basically, we thought it was funny, and it embarrassed Connor at first, which only made us want to do it more. He came in handy later for resolving the brick joke with the armor. And partly he was an account we kept adding videos to so it wouldn't look like Joe's videos had come from people who existed only to send Joe videos.

My minuscule part in the Nick Farrell saga is that I created some of the accounts for the early videos, and I named them all after characters from the first serious story I ever wrote, when I was 16. It sucked. Anyway, Daniel Hyrons, Ron Deckland, and Nick Farrell were all characters in that story.

The TWWF Nick was all Connor's brilliant madness however.
