Not entirely off topic, but we have a discussion currently going in the echo sub forum about this. Here.
If you ever need to ask the questions "Am I needed? Should I help them?" The answer is always yes. Always.

Has anyone else noticed that the rain seems to be only falling onto the witch? Personal Rain Cloud?

That kinda sucks if she's the only one who'll melt when it touches her :|

Yea, even I took pity on the Witch this time and was nice to her. Of course, I had ulterior motives for that too, and regardless I'm going to get something out of it, but still...

Wicked Witch updated. And she says she needs a backup plan, that is, TO GET HOME! :D Excellent. So we have another character open to getting home. :)
If you can make it better, don't make it sentient.

Hmm... the Wicked Witch on the side of the go homers :)

Anybody else think she'd be helpful against the Cabal?

I could certainly work on convincing her. It would be a win win situation for her and us.

She can't use magic. At least in this world.

Looks like she can't. It's not safe to assume she can't cast at all. ;)

Indeed. While she MAY not be able to use it, there is only circumstantial evidence for that position at best. The only two really good arguments that I can think of for her not being able to use magic are the fact that she didn't curse us, and the fact that she didn't curse whatever receptionist she spoke to on Wall Street. The first is probably just because she doesn't know where or WHO we really are, and she is a long way from all the people she tried to curse. (Meta reasons for it are obvious) The second could be explained by the fact that she was both depressed and that she didn't think it was worthwhile. She has proven to be very pragmatic before, so that is a distinct possibility. For now, we should consider both sides of the equation and act cautiously just in case she CAN use magic.

And she can't keep herself safe from the rain via magic (and... I guess it hasn't melted her? wrong kind of rain, maybe?).
Why are we even arguing about a dead fictional dude and hypothetical ninjas?

She has an umbrella/has hid from the rain. If you go off the comic, some of the rain is hitting her, and caused steam to come off her body (like it's burning)

Oops. Thanks for that. I saw her complaining about the rain in her blog post, and jumped to conclusions.
Still, looks like she can't use magic for that, which she would normally.

Why is it that rain will hurt her but she can't use magic. Is her reality cherry picking her traits?

This world's magic is different from hers. With Oz, Magic could be accessed through either spells, or items such as the Ruby/Silver Slippers. Whereas if you believe in this sort of thing, magic here varies from one religion to another. In this world it either doesn't exist, or it does but only organizations such as Pagan and Wicca know how to master it properly.

As for the water, she suffers a defect that possibly her sister East does that even a drop could injure or kill her. So genetics.

It doesn't really matter what this worlds magic is. Characters from fiction and story conventions from fiction are already here. A sufficiently powerful character should be able to drag their powers here as well.

It depends how the magic works. Oz could have magic in the air and spells are merely channeling the magic. If that was true, then she wouldn't be able to use spells here.

Again, depending on how much of their verse the characters have brought over, it would still be possible. They seem to have a passive effect on their surroundings so that story conventions take effect.

They do bring tropes through, but they wouldn't be able to create their own magic (going by my idea). Now if magic began to leak through through the cracks we would have a problem.

I'm not saying that they have yet. Perhaps they haven't. I'm just saying that if ideas such as tropes can come through, it's likely that whatever makes magic possible could conceivably pass through as well, a point that you seem to agree with, right?

Yes. If people can get through, the air and anything in it would easily be able to get through.
