Refictionalization: Gulliver

Postby WackyMeetsPractical on Sat Nov 10, 2012 9:54 pm

We now have enough echoes to return Gulliver.

Gulliver's in a good place that we may be able to convince him to be returned, so of the three we have enough to return, I think this is the one we should begin with. Now we need to figure out how to ask him if he wants to be returned.

Myself and Sicon have already explained the situation to him and Silver in depth. The only thing left to do is tell Gulliver that we're ready to transport him back. Hopefully, he'll respond in the positive and then we can work on his story. How does that sound?

So A's given us Thursday as the deadline. And the trope is Schoolgirl Rival.

Those of you who've read the book, let's get cracking! (I would feel so guilty for not having read it if I didn't have a ridiculous amount of things to do anyway.)

I asked Mr. A what time he wanted the stories by, since he went to such efforts to be specific the last time and didn't this time.

MIDNIGHT.

...Which is what I would have expected, but I feel better knowing for certain.

Meanwhile, I'm struggling to figure out what I can write. I honestly don't have any ideas. This is unusual for me. I hope I'll come up with something soon. There's not much time left.

Yeah, I am also at a loss. Mostly because I have no idea what this trope is. And no wonder...it seems to be exclusively an anime trope. That's really not fair. How am I supposed to know if I'm using the trope correctly if I've never seen the trope executed ever? And such a short trope description too. I really don't know how this differs from The Rival, so maybe I'll just use that trope.

Wacky, I don't know the first thing about anime, but from what I can gather, A's stretching the trope a little. He really just means a The Rival who happens to be a schoolgirl.

I had my own question about the refic. Gulliver's story is over. He comes back from after it. So... how do you think we should handle it?

Mr. A once said that the story can take place at any point in their lives. I was thinking about writing him during his visit with the lilliputians (since that's the only bit I'm familiar with), throw in a random school girl, have her and Gulliver get in some sort of conflict, resolve the conflict, and return Gulliver home. That's the best I could do at least.

No news yet. We only heard the results about Adam yesterday, so it may be a couple more days before Mr. A lets us in in on this one.

Now, who sent in a story? I did one. Anyone else?

So A's picked a Gulliver refic story.
Now I just need to get Silver to let him see it...

And it also followed Sicon's plan, as it ends with him receiving a letter from someone. ;)
So we don't even have to alter anything, and the deal with LJS may work as intended. Everyone is happy.

Who wrote the refic, by the way?

LJS read the story to Gulliver, who disappeared before his eyes, so... Success!

...But now LJS is extremely upset. Discussion of the aftermath should probably take place in the Twitter Conversations thread, so I won't go into it here.

Seems he may have been geniune about his fondness for Gulliver after all :( Damn. I was really hoping he was just being the Manipulative Bastard he is so famous for being. Still maybe uniting them through fiction will actually work...

Nah, I still think he's a Manipulative Bastard. He was just shocked by the guy disappearing in front of him, and is angrier at being played than by actually losing Gulliver. He's mad at me because he thinks I beat him at his own deception game.
