Using my netbook and somebody else's WiFi as I am some way from home, and:
Could not reliably determine location.

I also can no longer determine location, despite being able to do so this morning. Forgot to note down my compass points though *facepalm*

Like Sicon, I don't want to post my coordinates here. I'll PM it to Dryu now.
I also think it's about vectors, though no clue how to determine distance. Otherwise it doesn't make sense that I got the same compass direction three times.

Doesn't matter... As soon as it's placed on the map we'll all know it. Unless he rounds it up to the nearest integer, removing the precision... Which could potentially break the map, should the precision be necessary.

Precision's only going to matter if one of the points is right on top of whatever the map's pointing at.

Weird. When I checked it this morning, it was right on my house, hence why I didn't want to share.
But when I checked again, it gave much vaguer coordinates. But in any case, I've already PMed him.

Same here. Someone must have futzed with the program to make the float give less decimals. I have the same compass positions, though, so pinpoint accuracy per location isn't incredibly important.

For those of you who couldn't see it, here's a screenshot to ease your pain:

Using Chrome, the locator didn't do anything at all. When checking, I found that use of my location was blocked. I tried to unblock it, but it still didn't work. However, using Firefox I managed to get my coordinates and directions. Added to the map.

I think it was for Cabal use only (to direct their operations) and somehow it fell into other hands and leaked out. Not that I'm comfortable with it...
Does it work
a) Outside the US
b) For those who haven't added their location to Google Maps?

I'm outside the US and not on the map, and it worked.
JR's in Australia, and it seemed to have worked for him.
Doesn't work in Brazil, apparently, though.

Fair enough. Onto step 2:
I'm on Safari, does that affect it?

All our ones seem to be different.
Hmmmm.
Test them on a map or something.

You mean like this? =PAnyway, it didn't work for me )= Seeing the map get filled out is really cool though... though seems off, I can't pinpoint what.

So, Dryu, I sent you the information, why did you never put it up? Do you not need it then?

It's cool, it's just that I was busy. I'll have more time today, if you don't distract me.
I'm getting frustrated with the idea, though. Even now the map looks like a mess, and it will only get worse as we add more locations. Maybe we're missing something.

The Earth is a globe. You can't lay directions out on a Mercator projection like that. You have to draw a great circle on a globe. Also remember that great circles can go over the poles and the shortest distance just might do that. Something 'North' of Moscow might actually be in Canada.

Hey, I gave some suggestions a while back, so I can start giving more if this turns out to be nonsense this way.
