What co-ordinates you get? When I went into the site it gave me the co-ordinates: lat: 54.5100552 lon: -6.0690692

That is not Battersea Park, that's my address.

Also, considering this is a Pheeble site... Well, who else do we know uses Pheeble? I highly suspect the Cabal's involvement here. Probably a trap...

My coordinates are 1.346625 103.956582, disturbingly close to my house. I can pop out there to take a look, it's more or less just downstairs, but I have a feeling that this is the Cabal's way of tracking Pan (and us oh shit shit shit). I wonder if there's a meaning to the compass pictures though. North-west, north, north-west, south-east, north-north-west, north-west, north.

Yeah, it just shows you the coordinates for your own location.
I think the compass directions might be onto something-- some sort of code?

And is it just me, or does the little graphic that appears if you DON'T let your computer share your location (if you don't know what I mean, try going to that site on Firefox, where it's opt-in, and don't click "share location") look a lot like LJS?

I think whoever sent this to Peter is bad news. Probably one of four bad news items we've already encountered.

Here's the source code for what it displays, if anyone can make sense of this:

Code: Select all
<script type="text/javascript">
window.addEventListener("load", detectPos, false);

function detectPos() {
  navigator.geolocation.getCurrentPosition(usePos);
}

function usePos(position) {
  var c = position.coords;
  var lat = c.latitude;
  var lon = c.longitude;
  var params = new Array;
  params.push([ "latitude", lat ],[ "longitude", lon ]);
  sendRequest("http://locator.pheeble.twwf.info/locate", params, returnSub);
}

function returnSub(response) {
  document.getElementById("results").innerHTML = '';
  var obj = jsonParse(response);
  var html;
  if (obj.status == "failed") html = '<div class="error"><p>Could not reliably determine location.</p></div>';
  else if (obj.status == "success") {
    var lat   = obj.latitude;
    var lon   = obj.longitude;
    html = '<div id="container">\n';
   var b = obj.bearings;
    html += '<div class="compass"><div class="posholder">lat:<br/>'+ lat + "</div></div>\n";
   html += '<div class="compass"><img src="http://locator.pheeble.twwf.info/compasses/' + b[0].bearing + '.png" alt="' + b[0].bearing + '" width="162" height="162"></div>\n';
    html += '<div class="compass"><div class="posholder">lon:<br/>'+ lon + "</div></div>\n";

    for (var i = 1; i < b.length; i++) {
      html += '<div class="compass"><img src="http://locator.pheeble.twwf.info/compasses/' + b[i].bearing + '.png" alt="' + b[i].bearing + '" width="162" height="162"></div>\n';
    }
    html += '</div>\n';
  }
  document.getElementById("results").innerHTML = html;
}
</script>

So you DIDN'T realize it was trying to track us before you got on? I sorta just assumed it was the moment I laid eyes on the link...

And also, someone with FB ask for the numbers, saying we will give him a hand with figuring out what they mean. Just cause the Cabal can track him doesn't mean we can't. Besides, it could have given him something different for some reason...

Ok, it was really stupid of me to let the site in the pheeble.net domain track me, but oh well.
First, I don't think it is getting reliable coordinates - maybe down to district, or something.
Second, I got coordinates pointing right to a huge landmark. Yes, in my town. Won't tell which one. ;) Maybe I'll try to get there sometime, but I have no smartphone, if that's the case. In the very least, I won't be able to go there today. We should find out if we need any equipment there.

Meta: If a game gives you a set of coordinates, no matter if they locate you or not, it is important. You all need to check them out and leave the speculations for later. Or do you think the Cabal has left their henchmen on every point? Gimme a break. :gurt:

UPD: Some last thoughts before I leave. If the Cabal doesn't own the pheeble site, the locator may be a third-party tool. If they do, it may be a tool of the one who administrates the site (which is probably Phantom, if nothing has changed). In any case, I'm saying they may be unaware of this (at least until now, when the link has been posted :) ).

They couldn't find me in the tool. Weird.

Anyway, this is a tool to track the location of whoever is accessing the page. Meaning, they want to find us (silly Cabal). Or at least, find the other fictionals.

Sent. And warned him not to post it on his public page, lest it help the bad guys (and the police) find him.

I'll share it with you folks, OBVIOUSLY.
Through secure channels.

But it shouldn't be public.

But how do I know you aren't lying? All that paranoia could just be a massive gambit to make us trust you! Or perhaps, even if you aren't evil, your paranoia would lead to you lying ANYWAY, because you don't trust us!

Also, I'm confused about your gender now. I think you said you were a girl, but the account that posted is named "Mark".

I got different compass pictures. North-East, North-East, North-East, West-South-West, North-East, North-East, North-East.

I think we may need to get the locations in one place.
Related information is: Approximate input location, output location, compasses.
I'm very, VERY concerned about privacy, though. Maybe we should just check the addresses first. I've asked Mr. A already. (I hope we should - maybe I'll finally get some decent meta-knighting done!)

UPD: Started a thread for the locator.

Well, it didn't work at all for me.
I even went as far as access it on my tablet with the GPS on, and it still didn't return any coordinates.

That wasn't me. I sent him a private message. I would NEVER ask him to send such sensitive material over a public forum.

My coordinates point to the geographical center of the nearest town near me, not even the town I live in. I don't think anyone's privacy is being violated here. It only seems to reveal our approximate locations, which we've pretty much already revealed on the troper maps.

I think the compass points are the most important pieces of this puzzle. What were to happen if we all took a map, plotted the coordinate points the tools gave us, and then drew lines out away from the points in the direction of the compasses, and then looked at the intersecting lines?

Electric wires emmit a low hum constantly. They're pretty lighteight... But they're usually copper...
I know, the cat would scold me for being so literal... Also, it sounds like I'm sugesting we deep fry Pan or something... Not even I am that evil.

I'm not sure Tinkerbell would know the concept of electricity. Also, the "silent music" part... Well, it's just baffling. The whole thing is clearly a metaphor, but I can't crack it.

I just remembered where I heard the term "silent music" before-- it's a term that's been used to describe the beautiful arches often featured in gothic church architecture.

Presumably it can be applied to art in general...
Maybe we should think about some sort of permanent art in bronze? (or from the Bronze Age?) And possibly in or near Pittsburgh, since that's where Peter is?

Silent music, like radio waves? Tones of bronze? Sound waves can feel like feathers... I don't know, I'm spitballin' here.

"feels like feather"-- that means we're talking about something with a tangible presence.

I think some sort of beaten bronze public art piece would work for this clue... if only we knew which one
