AHA I KNEW IT WAS A STATUE.

No pyro, it's actually Cerberus.
What they didn't tell you is that Cerberus was found by Medusa. THAT'S why he looks so stony-faced. :|

Ohhhhhhhh.

If that had been told, everything would make a lot more sense.

Not sure what you mean by statue? It was an animated 3d model with fur.

The way the fur sort of clumps makes it look almost like cracking stone. Being more familiar with how short fur works in most rendering software, I knew to take a closer look when I thought it was, myself.

In the actual animation (without the video errors), the fur flows and doesn't look that way. And IIRC, correct me if I'm wrong, Alex, the errors were added only to make the video creepier, not to disguise anything about the model.

I'm surprised no one has brought up the moving eye on the puppet yet...

It's also worth noting that, in contrast to most statues, the Cerberus in the video moves its heads, although not very much. That said, I never did get the fur quite finished. The color and length are both a bit too uniform which doesn't help. The clumps were actually added to mitigate that a bit without them it looks too smooth, I think.

Also, Hades is terrible about grooming. Sometimes, viscera just gets into Cerby's coat, dries, and causes clumping.

Hey, he's a busy guy. Who do you think arranges the monsters for the heroes to defeat in the Isles of the Blessed?

The only part of the puppet story I can relate is that Alex deliberately didn't tell me what was up with that video. I caught it on my second viewing. I then tortured myself by watching it another 50 times within the next 48 hours. I'm not even kidding about that.

By the way, when Mr. Administrator said that Joe's comments had hurt the puppets' feelings, it made me really sad.

So the story behind the puppets video was mostly this: The script called for a video with puppets whose eyes moved. To everyone's surprise, including mine, I immediately said "you know, I think I might have just the thing" and we went with it. At the time none of us knew exactly which puppets they were, so we were all somewhat impressed when people figured out that they had names (or were at least knock-offs of puppets that had names).

As for the specifics of how the eye was made to move, well, some things are better left unexplained, I think.

Joe couldn't help his reaction either. That was just an unfortunate situation. There was basically no way for them to be happy in the real world.

Rest assured they were among the first to be sent back.

Edit: Oh, and I think it's also fun to note that the Prague antique store story is true, it just happened to Alex a few years ago or something, not Joe. He had the video lying around, and we used it because it was perfect. And the eye didn't move in real life.

EXCEPT IT DID

Or something

So I'm not sure if this looks more or less artificial than the last version, but here's another version of Cerberus because I don't really know why, so there.

I think the script called for something like "electricity arcs and crackles across the void," but I am paraphrasing. In any event, I tried to make it resemble, in some sense, the "cracks in the wall" for stylistic consistency, although by comparing that, the video in which Cinderella appears, and Cthulhu crossing over, it's fairly obvious that I hadn't entirely made up my mind regarding what it was supposed to look like.
