The app

I'm creating a new thread to not flood the already existing ones.

So, what were you thinking when you made the app?
Asides from shooting a purple thing, and owning Ctulthu, what was it supposed to do?
And IRL, did it do anything?

Mr. A sent the app directly to Adell, so he'll have to answer this one (if he can at all). The rest of us had no idea what we were looking at.

I can answer this actually. The app was real and shot lasers at Cthulhu and melted the phone. The the symbols were charged by the fics and songs you guys wrote, and when active prevented Cthulhu from mind raping me. In an alternate reality however, it was a screen cap of the Layar app that I photoshopped to the image I presented you all, but since this really happened that is irrelevant.

On the subject...
The 4 symbols, did we get their origins right?

I'm sure about the Triskele, Kanji and Ankh, but particularly the bottom right one I'm curious about.

Because the Alchemy Symbol for Gold does not have the branches the App one has. Or at least didn't in any of the sources I looked at.

You got them all right, I'd explain more but at work and hard to type with phone

You have no idea how glad I am that you were able to figure out how to shoot that thing correctly. Mr. A actually called me when you started having issues and wanted me to act as Mission Control, but unfortunately, the Witch messed up his plans. I thought about sending Mimsy in my place, but I'm not sure how much help he would have been.....

S'all good, we just didn't have the time to coordinate with the witch getting in the way. We would have been indestructible. Next time Sicon, next time.

Okay, out of work now, so I'll explain everything a bit more in that alternate universe where the app wasn't real and cthulu wasn't real (man I wish I had been in that universe, maybe I wouldn't have gotten a concussion!):

Basically, there was no app and there never was gonna be an app. It was merely setting up for how the player would confront cthulu, and was never meant to be elaborated on, and they pretty much gave me free reign to explain how the app worked as long as it sounded confusing. When I was first asked about it by I think blackwolfe, I didn't actually have the image (and hadn't even thought to make one) so I merely described it as "colorful" and that it confused the hell out of me. This was to set up, As Sicon mentioned in the post above the original plan to have him or mimsy come through and help me understand it during the confrontation, but we didn't end up getting that part recorded in time so Sicon's part of the finale just stayed focused on the witch and poirot.

Wanting to make this as interesting as possible, and worrying that people would break suspension of disbelief without a screencap of the app, I asked Tom(since like I said, I didn't have a smartphone) to send me over a screencap of layar. The one he sent me was of his friend with the fishy face. Yeah, I didn't know who he was but it was so funny to us that I used it anyway. After that I just tried to fit in as many confusing elements to the image as possible and came up with random terms that didn't mean anything just to add to the confusion.

When it came to the symbols, I intentionally picked ones that I thought would be fitting for something involving a final conflict, but there was really no purpose to them they were just being symbolic for symbolic sake. However, after you guys came up with an admittedly very awesome reason for the symbols to be there I think it became generally accepted that the purpose of the symbols was to protect the user. After I made it, I posted it up for you guys to see and be interested in, and then I went off to film my segment of the final battle. Despite how it may have looked, I nor the actors playing the cabal ever actually met, we filmed all of our stuff separately and Alex edited it together. It was very silly yelling by myself in the forest, but it could have been worse I guess, I do have a couple different versions of everything I say during the video if you guys want to hear in the future, but it's really nothing special :3

Of course, I would mean all of the above if this hadn't actually happened. Which it did as far as I can tell. remember, concussion? My memory of the events is fuzzy and all I have to go off of is what the gms and the video say (both of which say it's real!) So I guess my friends phone really did melt!

It's more like a precautionary promise. If stuff goes south again with the wall, Sicon and I will fusion dance and pretty much wreck whatever comes through.

Adell plus Sicon is equal to... Mimsy?

Adell, with the GMs trolling everyone, I wouldn't expect you trolling me. I'm disappointed at you. You have failed me.

Hey, be fair. We haven't trolled everyone yet. It's a huge list; we still have a lot of people that haven't been properly trolled yet.

Yeah, Vic, give them a break, I'm sure they'll get around to trolling each and every one of us sufficiently in their own time.

And you have just given me a vague idea of another ARG, where the players' interactions with some interface drive some collective consciousness. I don't have anything specific, but that sounds awesome.
(And yes, I'd totally watch the Fusion Dance. ;) )

I'm really wanting to revive the Sepia Project now. :( Although writing a computer game that would get flagged as malware is probably not a good idea.

I actually had an idea for a non-canonical Monster Of The Week stuff.
  1. Write an app lookalike.
  2. Make it check some predefined server for coordinates of the Wall emergency. Use GPS for comparison.
  3. When in vicinity, shoot purple sparks on command (hardware support required :D ).
  4. The coordinates in question must be editable by whoever administrates the event.
Just food for thought. That's probably not getting made, ever. >_>
