I don't even recall handwaving it. I recall just zapping the posts and putting them up when they were supposed to go. I think it was simultaneously a case where there really wasn't a good handwave, and also a minor point where it wasn't necessary.
I smiled when the wall was built, for I knew we were creating something incredible. And I smiled when it cracked, for the world would soon see what we had wrought.
