Personally, in a post in the Letters Thread, I thought up a new theory-

What if this happened:

In the world behind the Fourth Wall, Moriarty stole the device from Mr.A, who is in charge of keeping the characters under control, eg he makes sure they do not break the Fourth Wall and escape.

Holmes and Poirot were sent to work on the case, as well as a heavily armoured Don Quixote and Cheshire Cat. They were accompanied by Cinderella, a man with an umbrella, and faeries.

They all cornered Moriarty at the last minute, but Moriarty smashed the cube, creating a huge tornado in which the characters were sucked through- into our world.

Eventually, they landed on Earth, confused and scared. Mr. A, furious with Moriarty, sent out his Grave Announcement.

By chance, Joe spotted some of them and recorded videos.

The 4 major characters, Poirot, Holmes, Cheshire and Quixote were taught how to use electronic devices to communicate.

Cheshire sent out riddles, but was nearly killed by Moriarty, after something sent him into pieces.

Holmes and Poirot lost their memories a bit- they originally worked together and were even friends, but they couldn't remember their partner, but remembered who they were.

Quixote finally came through, and is currently still mad and thinking that this world is still medieval, although he is possibly a bit more saner now.

Knowing that Holmes and Poirot would gradually remember each other, Moriarty tricked them into thinking the other was a murderer, which set them against each other.

Mr. A ordered them to use false names and wear masks, which explains Poirots mask.

Later, there was a hole in the wall, but a small one. Cinderella, the guy in the Umbrella, a mermaid, and the faeries got through when Mr. A's back was turned. They haven't communicated yet, but they probably will in the future.

Much later, the Wicked Witch of the West smashed through the wall via a very powerful spell.

Now, it''s up to us to fix this.

I think there are too many conjectures for it to be a viable theory. We lack facts. And, to be honest, the premise is kinda... I dunno, mundane?
(And it doesn't explain the puppets)
And I hate being the guy who constantly critisizes others' theories. =(

Nah, I mean, kudos to you BOTH for discussing stuff, cojecture and theorising is perfectly rational and it's good to figure out what can and can't be so NOW...

On the subject of which, don't we have confirmation from Holmes himself that this guy in command is NOT Moriarty? Or is that still up in the air?

His client is not Moriarty. We don't know who Powers That Be are. Now that the Epileptic Tree is planted, it's hard to uproot.

Well, Arthur Moore could be working for Moriarty. Just saying.

And, bit for my theory:

The Psychararist arrives, and buys two cats. She sets up a blog, then gets her first patient, who is apparently a rather confused but crazy Sweeney Todd.

His client is not Moriarty. We don't know who Powers That Be are. Now that the Epileptic Tree is planted, it's hard to uproot.

True and this is Holmes we're talking about, he's the master of finding Epileptic Trees. (You know thinking on it, communicating with us via the internet denies Holmes of his most commonly used method - his senses. I mean you can't tell a persons job by the texture of their hands if you can't TOUCH their hands, you can't predict a tremor in their voice if you're reading text... must be harder for him to trust us as a result although he at least seems to agree we have his best interests at heart.)

I think we have agreed to let it slide for now. If he decides to go violent, there's not much we can do from here.
Also, the psychiatrist has got her cats from a friend, who was leaving. All evidence seems to point out that the cats have been here for a while. If it's a Red Herring, it was set up damn well.

Anyway, the world will not end at 21 December 2012. The Mayan Calendar will just start again.

It's not that the world's gonna end. The Eclipse Army will rain from the skies to reclaim their lost god and annex a new colony in their eternal war against the Abratals. After that, there will no longer be any need for the human calendar.

Huh, maybe the Witch could use that as a potential campaign strategy...
