Field agents' titles

Postby Dryunya on Mon Oct 08, 2012 4:31 am

This is basically the discussion thread for this announcement.
This is for the people who agreed to physically walk into the hostile world, amirite? :o
That means we're about to see more of it.

My filtered stream of ideas:
Field agents
Drop troopers
Inverse hikkikomori :)
Survivalists
Clean-up crew
Meta-infantry
Those guys who don't sit on their ass the whole time ( :| )
Wall-limers (ok, that was an Incredibly Lame Pun.)
I have attempted to suppress my inner hyperspace future gardener crying out against all the injustice I am committing.

How about the people like me, Adell, and Sicon, who go onto Holmes and Poirot's blogs, and the TV Tropes forums, to discuss theories, what we've found and ideas?

Are we still the Metaguards?

Everyone discusses things on the forums, we can't give everyone titles. Although I do think there shoild be another way to earn titles, for people in other countries who can't do field work.

My vote is for Meta-infantry. It chimes in with the meta-theme, and sounds badass. :gurt:
The backup plan is the clean-up crew. That gives off a conspicious vibe. :geek:

BTW, does this forum support votes?

This amuses me.

Well, I would give suggestions, but I'm kinda drawing a blank, and it looks like you all have this covered anyway. It's a great idea to give a title to people like Accela. Also, I vote that she gets the lead position of the new section of the Metaguards, since she was the first one. :D
Normal people are the easiest to manipulate. Too smart and they have an annoying tendency to catch wind of your plans, too dumb and, in the words of a certain pirate, "You can never tell when they are about to do something incredibly...stupid."

Though if I had to choose for my own title. It would be Rogue, don't get me wrong I am on the side of good, but my methods would probably be questioned by others on the side of good. Sorta a Jack Bauer if he switched places with batman.

This topic popped up about 2 minutes after I PMed Ed my sugestion and went to sleep.
I'll post the same here. Keeping with the theme, the Metaguards stand watch over the wall, therefore, what about calling our frontline field warriors Meta-Knights?

I like that name.

"Meta-Knights" is how I thought it would be though.

I suggested Metalancers or Metasoldiers...
The voices in my head tell me that we saved the world. However, they also told me that George Clooney's face is on the dollar bill, so... meh. The voices are more fun, anyway.

These are good, but I don't agree on a etymological point of view.
"Soldier" is a job. Not a honor title. It's like going to the army, you're that because you have to be that.
A "Lancer" is somewhat the same on a medievel setting, a more specialized form of infantary. Again, it's a job all the way.

Now, the "Knight" is a rank title. He is still a soldier. But one recognized by a noble.
Ask PTerry. He is a Knight with a Meteor Ore sword. Alive. Today. =D

No, Commander would refer to a head of the soldiers in an army. We can't all be commanders.
