Division of Labor

I remember when we first started the forum we were toying with the idea of splitting into teams but at the time it didn't seem necessary...

I think it might be necessary now, especially with the influx of characters. This thread will be discussing how we should divide labor, if we should at all, and what each group would be working on.

At this point, I believe the division should be based on characters, with each group focusing on particular POI's, keeping everyone else up to date on them, etc. When it comes to puzzles and other such things, we of course will still work together as a team, but managing all this info on the characters is gonna be tough if we don't make some coherent movements now.

Sign ups for Divisions:

The idea here is to make sure we have a constant control of the information flow gathered to keep track of things. This isn't shoehorning you into doing only one thing, it's to give you a specific job to follow first, and then your free to do whatever beyond that. Your jobs as being in these divisions is to gather all the information you can so that we always have someone who is up to speed on characters.

I agree. The number of characters is growing, and it's becoming daunting to keep up with them all. I've already given up on following Poirot and Holmes and left it to others while I focused on Quixote and the therapist's patient and most recently, Silver. I don't know how we can split it up. But as long as we have 1 or 2 committing to one character full time, and then occasionally checking up on the others based on their own interests, we should be good.

So, let's just make a few groups showing 3 or 4 of the characters, and then have people "sign up" to focus on them. They should preferably be together by relation (Romeo + Juliet, LJS + Gulliver, etc.) or just misc pairs. I'll make an example below

Group 1: Chesire Cat, Don Quixote

Group 2: Romeo and Juliet

Group 3: Long John Silver and Gulliver

Group 4: Therapist + Patient. (One should probably sign up here if you're from Boston, for example.)

Group 5: Poirot, Holmes, and all other related blogs which I may be forgetting.

Group 6: The Witch

Everyone: Gurt

For the record, I would like to sign up for Group 1. There is probably a more efficient way of organizing this, by amount's of total content. If anyone has any suggestions, that would be great.

I agree with this thread, there is not enough of me for all of this. I would pick group 4, ground coffee shop, and ground RPG GM's

I personally believe the witch should be separate, and whoever becomes her elected official would be the head guy for that group. Otherwise, the groups seem to make sense to me. okay, hold on I'll be updating the first post for sign ups

I've already been spending the majority of my time focusing on Quixote and the witch, but could very easily put as much focus on Silver and Gulliver. I'd likely be watching the 4 of them with equal focus all the same, but you can put me in either group 1 or 2, or both if possible.

Fixed post with your suggestion, Adell.

Edit: Once again, I'd like to sign up for Division 1, and perhaps for Division 6 as well.

Alright Shaner, you're in division one. If you don't have a twitter I want you to make one so you can converse with Chesire at your leisure and more easily keep track of his and quixote's posts.

maybe we should also have people reaching out to other communities? with so many, i feel like the more players we have, the better.

I've already got quite a lot of useful information out of the Chesire Cat, a few of which have ended up on the Timeline.

I think it would be a good idea to allow more than one person in each division. I mean, we don't have that many people, and people are probably going to post in the other threads regardless of division anyway.

Problem is, not every character is active most of the time. Cheshire is chasing a mouse somewhere and hasn't come up ever since the LJS Riddle. So people in that group would end up just following other characters...

I, again, don't think set groups are a very good idea. I know I would get bored following only a couple of fictionals.
I like being the loose straw used to poke the Witch and ask sensitive they-will-hate-me-for-it questions to random characters. And I can't say I'm very familiar with these characters cannon's either...

That's the plan. I need to see what others want to do first, though.

I disagree at this point, with so many characters we need specific individual in charge of keeping track of specific characters, so that at all times at least one individual knows everything to know about that character. Nothing is stopping people from interacting with these other characters or with other objectives if your division slows down, the idea is to make sure we have a constant control of the information flow gathered to keep track of things. This isn't shoehorning you into doing only one thing, it's to give you a specific job to follow first, and then your free to do whatever beyond that.

I guess I will deal with Poirot and Holmes' group, as well as the witch, for now. I'll pop into the cat occasionally, and help Quixote as much as I can, though. I know very little about Sweeny Todd, so unless I come up with something brilliant, I'll leave that to those more knowledgeable.

I'll take The detectives and the witch, and I should probably work on Gulliver, since it has only been about 4 months since the last time I read his book.

I'll still be compulsively reading every post, though, so expect me to appear all over.

Updated with my attempt to explain the purpose of this division. Remember, it's just essentially you agreeing to ALWAYS being up to date with said characters so that we can go to you for info if need be. Beyond that nothing has changed, you're free to act as you always have.

I can't agree to limiting myself. I know it's counter-productive, but I can't help it.
If I'm online but distracted and needed somewhere, PM me, or something.

You're not limiting yourself, please try to understand what I mean by making the divisions.

You should probably begin the updating of your original post with the current sign-up's, just so newcomers to the thread can easily see which places need more people.

That's how I feel too... But, unofficially I'll try to keep a closer eye on Romeo and Julliet... Turns out that I found them, didn't I? (I can't handle Gulliver's handwriting so that's a no-no).
Just don't tag me to that! That's asking me to get burned and ragequit. It's as if I'm getting a job that I have to do or I will get punished.

Overall, I'll just stay as I am now and pop up everywhere I think I can add something.

I'm currently under consideration for the Witch's manager, so I should probably out down for her section first and foremost.

I would also like to sign up to the Therapist, (at least since she hasn't posted in a few days and it'll give me a chance to catch up v.v)

I think the psychiatrist's blog is pretty interesting so I'll go for that one, and I'm on the witches list so that as well.
