Not until we know who it is, or at least where they are and what the heck they want.
They sometimes say, "the place where I am right now was circled on a map for me"... Unfortunately, I kind of suck at orienteering.

At least one of them is not a Realityland human, the one who can "take the form of an archetype." I couldn't begin to guess if they're all fictionals or if folks from our side of the wall are interspersed among them.

Another question is, if it can take the form of an archetype, is it a single shapeshifter character or something else? Something that's made from the dregs of tropes, the shards of multi-purposed tropes that don't get used from one book to the next?
I wrote a book. Adding to the far side of the wall.

Well if there in opposition to us clearly they want the wall to fall, as to who they probably have at least some of the ficties working with them just like we do

Depends on what you mean by "want." Odds are some are doing it for kicks.

I dunno about that. The guy seemed to be speaking metaphorically. I'll go over the transcripts some more, but the solid info we have is pretty sparse. I need to start comparing these messages to the letters Joe read. See if we can find parallels in tone and such.

Then we need to try and see about locating offhand references to possible suspects from other parts of our database. For example, the possible link to the Dutchman from Sherlock's blog never came up with.

Here's a question. Would a psychological theory count as fiction? WMG.

TROPE BEAST. That would be so... AWESOME! :gurt: :gurt:

Now, to the point. Mr. A said that he can't tell us the consequences, as the wall has never collapsed before. (Duh). I had a brilliant idea that's consistent with the model (which automatically gives it bonus points :geek: ) - simulate the collapse in a sub-universe. He said it's an interesting idea. :geek:

...I only thought about the moral implications a minute later.

Yea... I was impressed by the idea, but the morality of it hit me the moment I read it... and now it looks like Mr. A is going for it.

So it's sort of a retroactive Your Approval Fills Me With Shame?

Or maybe Mr. A can come up with a way to simulate it that doesn't uproot a bunch of characters from their home.

I hope not. Where the boudnaries can be drawn between fiction and reality is one of the most itneresting questions that can be asked about this game. We've mentioned in the past series that break the fourth wall by rote. The Yogscast, for example: people with roles and characters they play but which are basically placeholders for their own personalities: would THEY count as fictions?

I'll tell you what, though. A psycholocial theory may not count as a fiction... but a CONCEPT might. Anything that's been around for a very, very long time. There are personificaions of those all over the places from the obvious ones (Ares is War, Loki is Tricksters, etc) to the not so obvious (would there, for example, be a personification of nihilism? Or or a place, like a tower or a bridge or something?)
They sometimes say, "the place where I am right now was circled on a map for me"... Unfortunately, I kind of suck at orienteering.

If anyone could pull that off, it would be him. I mean, he could just take a totally blank world and then snap the fourth wall. The question is, will he?

My answer: likely. It would be problematic for these things to occur in a populated universe regardless of the level.

Not entirely but when it comes to tricksters their pranks can range from good fun, to violent consequences.

Fits the pattern, first a well known fictional character (Todd) Then messages similar to Joe's letter's, then the dry clean lady.

There's a funny thought I've just had.
If we assume that the most well-known and uncopyrighted characters spawn first, AND that God does not exist, he WILL be the first to spawn, as a fictional creature and the best-known one. We'd have a freaking Second Coming on our hands. :gurt:
We didn't, so either our hypothesis isn't true, or in EC canon, God is real. (Or GMs simply couldn't prepare themselves to stuff like this.)

Science, beatches. :geek:

(If anyone wants to argue on that matter, make a new thread, as that argument can be very, very long.)
