What Characters Can Get Through?

I was wondering at this. What characters can actually get through? So far the characters are fairly old. Is it possible for a very modern character to come through? I'm not really sure. Just a thought. And what is actually canon in the Fictional world? What among all the stories that have been created have become their reality?

Sorry for ranting with questions. But, there may be some things that you all know that I haven't learned yet. The more we all know the better off we are. Thanks for reading.

Except for Poirot. Every other corsser is Public Domain.
As far as facts go, that's about what we have on this... Now, if we go into theories... I do have some... But it's 2:30AM here. I'm not in the right mind to write the necessary wall... Maybe someone else will do it...

So far we've only found old, iconic characters. It's not clear whether they're the only ones who can cross, or just the only ones who have crossed, or just the only ones out of all who have crossed that we've been able to find.

Many have speculated that as the cracks grow, we'll see more variety in the characters that cross over. However, we don't really know how changes in the cracks will affect which characters we see.

He actually IS public domain in the US. Not in Britain, though.

If we take the theory that PD characters are bleeding in, we can end up seeing a host of various characters. Such as:
Hua Mulan,
King Arthur and Merlin,
Pinocchio <Averagejoe vid, anyone?>
Various characters from Lovecraft

And what about that group that may be against us?
How about the Illuminati, or the Knights Templar?

The vid wasn't Pinocchio. It was Spejbl and Hurvinek. As to the others, not evidence as of yet.

Good god if the lovecraftians end up getting through, though odds are we might just end up getting Re-Animator. Best case scenario.

Um... The often-stated opinion is that the more famous characters are crossing because they have more power, or, um, meta-wise, because the puppetmasters need them to be as recognizable as possible. Er.., we don't really know. -_-

Hey there guys! I'm new here! No party though, not really the time nor the place! First off, I really love your avatar Pixelmage! You too Dryunya!

Whoops, Ramble Mode was left on! Sorry! I agree with the idea that they need to be well known in order to get through, but I don't agree with the whole 'old' thing. The Witch is specifically from the movie, not the book. That puts her at the 1930's, which while old is still relatively modern. I don't know much about the whole 'public domain' thing-y you're talking about so I'm no help on that front. But I think a fictional character that is well known enough, regardless of age, for example Superman, can still get through.

I just pictured that and now I am scared.

Um, I have already calculated that if the "popularity first" hypothesis is true, then, in Echo Chamber canon, God is real, um, because otherwise he would... you know... appear first. If, uh, that makes sense to you... -_-""

(Damn, I get Cuteness Proximity from my own character :) )

So far the only characters we've seen tend to have their origins in literature, though they usually also have countless modern adaptations, films, series, etc, because they're so well known. They all begin with literature though. I don't think their genre is as important as their age (books are just one of the oldest forms of storytelling going still in use today).

As time goes on and the cracks widen I'm sure newer, less well known characters will start breaking through, possibly from other mediums. We're already up to somebody who may very well be from the Vampire Hunter Chronicles.

Besides Mario isn't evil, sure there are good characters coming in, but whomever is responsible would want the baddest there is. Criminal masterminds, Witches, Mythical figures, Pirates, Serial killers, you name it.

More Characters Are Coming Out Of The Wall Than Mexicans Are Jumping The Border. XD

I Just Woke Up Many Weeks Ago In A Place I Don't Recognize, Even Though I Had Amnesia I Still Traversed The Building I was In, It Was Quite The Dark Descent. XD

I Wonder If The Joker Will Ever Jump Through The Wall. I Would Laugh My Butt Off! XD

Oh lord, I wouldn't, that guy is on my list of "People I really, really DON'T want to see come through the wall". He's above the Daleks on the list, but below Cthulhu.

Your strange way of speaking aside, good sir, you're correct: there are a LOT of them, probably a great many of whom we've missed. I'm hoenstly surprised we haven't seen more of them in the news by now.

I think it should also be noted that since the Batman Premier shooting incident, the police have been keeping a close eye on anyone dressed in character. So, it has become more difficult for any characters to blend in.

Meta: That doesn't matter because they're not actually walking around

In the original videos of WTF, several characters were shown simply walking around. So, I believe it should still be noted.

There could be more characters than the ones documented by WTF's forum.

I'd be willing to bet a lot of money that there are DEFINITELY more, probably a lot more - we still have no idea where the mermaid, or cinderella, or that guy being chased by what I think were fairies went, or that knight...

The knight was Quixote.

What if there's some sort of Weirdness Censor around the characters?

I'm not sure how this would work, but we can't deny it as possible. Still, if you were to see someone dressed up in character (before finding this) would you really think it was anything more than someone who likes dressing up?

Still, I do agree that there are probably quite a few more characters loose than we can keep track of. I highly doubt that many of them are online either.

Anybody who's been in a town that regularly hosts anime conventions can attest to how normal these things can sometimes get. The last convention I was at shot assistants quite calmly and casually served a bunch of Naruto's and Sailor Moons, but then they'd been doing it every year for half a decade...

I'm still worried about Cinderella, frankly.
