When he says he sane he's probably telling the truth. However he might not be talking for every instantiation.

"Hypersanity"?
What's that? Sounds kind of like a good thing, you know.

Honestly, I can't remember WHERE I read about that idea -it was in a book somewhere, I reckon. Basically I think the idea is that a "traditionally" insane person (there are of course plenty of variations) will be random, unpredictable, erratic, and unstable, what you have is somebody highly capable, ruthlessly committed to their intent, unmovable by any outside force be it emotional or physical, and who is pretty much unbreakable. So like a determinator, only without any possible hidden weaknesses. I dunno I guess that COULD be a good thing, but I suppose that would depend on the personality of the hypersane person in general.

But I may be defining it completely wrong... am I the only one familiar with this idea? :?:

Possibly OT: think of the Cheshire Cat's perspective on this. In Wonderland they are all mad, so the SANE person would be the odd one out and, ergo would be the one who's actually crazy?

When he says he sane he's probably telling the truth. However he might not be talking for every instantiation.

Good point. I take it they're not a TOTAL hivemind, and actually have a degree of independence, hence why some of them have been able to communicate with us without Mister A. instantly knowing.

Just a thought. If Zack was successfully retconned out of EC would Mr. A know? Maybe the retcon also affected him.

The first time I read about supersanity was in a Batman comic Arkham a serious house on serious earth. It was what the doctors diagnosed the Joker with.

Makes sense, I think that MIGHT be where I heard it, but I'm not sure...

Especially when you consider his Dark Knight incarnation, who had a crazily... logical way of looking at the world, in spite of acting, in his own words as 'an agent of chaos'. It was like the world was just one big experiment to him.

I think there was something along the lines of hypersanity in the Discworld book Thief of Time. There was a character who, rather than being chaotic and unpredictable, pursued his work with a dedication and logic beyond the reach of normal, sane humans.

In this version of Batman it is implied that Joker recreates his entire mind on a daily basis, explaining why when you are reading a silver age story he is pretty much not dangerous and why when watching the dark knight he is evil to a T

I see... That would make him insanely unpredictable, if you don't know who he is from one day to the next... and surely it would TAKE kind of hyper grasp of your own mind and thoughts in order to not get horribly confused or forced into holding patterns?

We don't know which instantiation we are talking to at any one point.

Oh, lord, I am horribly confused. Frankly I wouldnt blame them if they were starting to have a bit of a meltdown.

Yes, I'm sure it was the discworld book now! Thanks for clearing that up in my head :)
