I think we've already discussed the rhyming nature of that one back in the day. We considered it could be Cheshire, but by now we know it's not (though he did admit to sending the Welcome to Hogwarts letter). How do we know it's not? Well, his trolling session proves that a) the Cabal had no clue who he was and b) he's not TOTALLY evil (he did use it to give us their names).

Also, we know from the Pheeble chats that the VAST majority, if not all, of Joe's threatening letters were from the Cabal. Now that we know who the Cabal is, it's not really relevant for us to analyze the letters to figure out who wrote them.

Hey, in some lights you could say the original is more Mind Fucky-ish than McGee can ever hope to achieve. Both are awesome, but the original is quite a trip too. (The good sort, for me at least. )
