Well, Morgana mentioned that he retained his powers. So by that he may have meant that he has been teleporting around. Or something.

I suspect it's the increase of tropes in our enviornment that have allowed the Cheshire Cat to maintain his abilities of speech. perhas it's totally random. perhaps what abilities you retain in this world depends on WHICH tropes you brought through. So Holmes and Poirot kept their skills at deduction, the Cheshire acat kept his ability to speak, because of the tropes that surround them.

But Morgan's tropes - which would probably have included tropes along the line of sorcery and so on, were just too big to properly be maintained IRL.
