The big blue box that is in the comic might have been an artifact of great power in a piece of Holmes fiction. The comic books first page is showing the events that lead up to the fourth wall being cracked. Moriarty might have wanted it for his collection but Holmes comes in right before it can be stolen. Moriarty activates it by accident and its power began ripping holes in the Fourth wall.

An interesting theory, but my Genre Savvyness is telling me that things are gonna be a little more complex. I do agree that that blue box is going to turn into a plot point at sometime in the relatively near future, though.

I don't think the wall will have broken because of a specific piece of fiction. I think it'll be more meta than that. I do think the fact Mr. A appears on the front page with (possibly) Holmes is significant.

My thoughts exactly.

I think it's the growth of Metafiction and Transmedia storytelling that are causing the breaks. Heck the core idea of transmedia storytelling is basically interacting with the fictional characters you're reading/watching via email, phone, mail and/or social media. Reality and fiction have been crossing paths for awhile now, ARGs are a prime example of this, but it's everywhere in fiction too. Every time an author writes him/herself into their work, or an actor appears 'As Himself' that weakens the wall. Metafiction is what's bringing the wall down.

And Mr. A is trying to fix it by attracting us to the ARG. Nice Job Breaking It, Hero.

Don't stress, they're shut down because they were fully examined in most cases A bit of natter once a thread has fulfilled it's role is good for us, I think. Stops us getting too bogged down.
