Part of the problem might be that we can't start working on repairs to the wall while there are still fictional characters running around in our reality, because that would trap them here and ultimately cause more problems
Yeah their presence might even prevent the wall from being fixable at
all. At this point I don't think we have enough information to come up with ANY workable solutions, but there are several possible answers (or at least consequences) I'm thinking on right now.
Manually returning characters to where they belong, and then thinking about how to sort out the wall. I dunno I just wonder if maybe we could find a way to do this ourselves? Somewhat unpractical and heavy labour, and then there's the question of whether the characters even WANT to go back. At the very least we need to communicate to more of these guys - a process thathas already begun with certain characters... The Cheshire Cat may not be the most coherent of individuals, but at least he's TALKING to us. Heck, maybe THEY know more than we do? They certainly felt they had good reason to send letters.
Retcon: If we're looking at this on a large scale, there are several possible solutions. One of them involves some kind of hard-reset - like the retcon that they were seemingly trying to instigate with Zack's departure from EC. I have no idea HOW this would be done, if it could be done, or exactly what the consequences would be, but if things get to a point where we're seeing serious damage then it could be a last resort... Of course I AM assuming reality and fiction would work the same way as a computer restoration would (when a computer basically 'resets time' or whatever it does, back to a point before a problem began) which may not be the case at all. Also, no idea what it would do to US.
Do nothing and witness what may well be the permanent amalgamation of reality and fiction: Mister A. seems to think there are very good reasons for why this is NOT an option -there's problems emerging, sure, but I have to note that we have yet to see any actual physical damage being done to the environment caused by these characters appearance. In spite of seeing the plague Doctor, we have no reports of plague like diseases, at least not in that kind of place. Although we have seen The Wicked Witch of the West, there have been no tornadoes... not in Kansas anyway. So far we're okay, although I admit it may not remain as such.
For all we know we could be looking at the re-defining of reality and fiction, our entire relationship with fiction could be changing forever, and why knows what that could mean for the world? I sure don't have a clue. Maybe there IS no way to fix it: maybe all we can do is minimise the damage and see what happens? It COULD be amazing for all we know...
I dom't think even Mister A. knows what to do, right now, safe to say this has never happened before. At the moment all they're doing is manning their stations, and keeping an eye out (partly via us). I presume he has SOME way of getting the characters back home and... hopefully that IS all he wants to do.
(I know, I know, I'm just not sure I trust the guy's intentions when all we have is his word and a bunch of questionably vague information) So... yeah. I got nuthin'
