Endgame

So... The Wall Will Fall on 21st, as we've suspected from the very beginning.

Guys... I'm actually starting to panic. There's too much stuff to do. We still have 6 echoes (not counting the unfound Cabal's), and Loads And Loads of Characters to refic. And if we will have to retrieve the pieces after refictionalizing the characters (but I hope not - Mr. A has his agents, right?)... Well, you know. Is it too late to start the "Throw a tantrum" plan? :(
And, considering that we haven't even met most of the Cabal in the flesh, we're in for some rapid plot developments. Things will get ugly soon.

By the way, the date may mean that the wall's collapse may have been a cosmic event, or something.

Okay, so we have three weeks to find many many echoes, and refictionalize 12 characters, and possibly finding 4 wall pieces. It may seem intimidating guys, but lets' break this down.

* Holmes and Poirot are already ready to go. Once they wrap up their cases, which should be soon, we can get the go ahead from Mr. A to begin refictionalizing and we can send them both back in a matter of days.
* Quixote's willing to go, and we have a delivery system in place, i.e. Bradcho. We just need to find that echo. If we can get that done this weekend, we can have him gone in a matter of days.
* The Witch and Cheshire seem to be cooperative, so all that needs to be done is to find their respective echoes. Then they too can be gone in a matter of days.
* Romeo and Juliet will be a challenge. First, we need to find their second echo, then somehow prep them both to be ready to go. Whether that means getting them back together or not is yet to be seen. That shouldn't take more than a week.
* We need to find Silver's echo, and then somehow get him to trust us so that he can read our story.
* That leaves the Cabal. 4 characters, only about 3 found echoes among them, and then one known left unfound. And who knows if any more echoes will pop up? But if they're going to pop up, they better pop up soon. Needless to say, this one will be our biggest challenge.

Basically, we need to focus our efforts on finding the echoes and then writing refics. 6 of these guys should be really simple. 2 may put up a fight. And then we have the 4 that will put up the biggest fight of all. But if we can take care of the easy ones first, then we can free ourselves up to focus more on the big bads when the time comes for it. So don't give up now guys. We can do this!

...Or we could shoot for the wall pieces, because there are frankly less of them, and let the 4 (now 5 if you count Long John) Cabal members stay. Also Cheshire Cat. Why would we want to send Cheshire home?

Yes, that's also an option. And that's actually a pretty good idea. I mean, what if Mr. A is wrong? And the fictionals actually do no damage? I think we can all agree that the will coming down completely is going to be bad, whether you're Pro-A or Pro-Cabal. Going after the pieces might be our best option. Fixing the wall should certainly be our biggest concern. And although we do want to refictionalize all of the characters, we may want to consider having all the pieces on standby, so that we can fix the wall at the last minute, whether there are still characters here on this side or not. Whether we agree with refictionalization or not, it would just be embarrassing if we just let the wall fall if there was something we could've done about it.

The way I see it, there are three possible endings:
1) The Great Ending: We refictionalize everybody and stabalize the wall. Everyone is happy and where they belong, and we all walk away with strong friendships that cannot be broken.
2) The Okay Ending: We refictionalize some, but not all the fictionals, but stabalize the wall. Characters like Moriarty and Don Juan stay here, but answer for their crimes by the judicial system. Everyone else tries to live normal lives. We walk away feeling fine about ourselves.
3) The Bad Ending: The wall collapses and we're all dead.

Obviously, there are many variations for each. Maybe Quixote ends up dying in his hospital bed. Maybe Moriarty gets away scot-free. Maybe we stabalize the wall and the characters do wind up wiping out reality anyway. But with the information we have so far, I think the above are the three endings we should be expecting. Let's shoot for the Great Ending, but if we can't reach it, let's just try to avoid the Bad Ending at all costs.

From what we've seen at the site we found with the wall piece letter, obtaining the wall pieces will be a bother anyway, and will require meta-knighting, too. So, the advantage is dubious.

And (surprise) the RL tends to push at the end of the year. I don't know how much I'll be able to help. And anyway, my only option is the refics, which I'm bad at. The reason I succeeded with the Regulator story is because it didn't require any background knowledge. г_г

Guy so there's not much I can do. Unless I can do a refictionalisation but other than that I can do nothing (Unless an echo comes up in my area cause my sister has a new iPod that can use Layar)

Also the end of the world in 2012 takes place on 21 December 2012.

COINCIDENCE? I THINK NOT...! :o :o :o :o :o

Actually, the world WON'T END:
http://www.nasa.gov/topics/earth/features/2012.html

So no natural disasters there then. The most will be simply a total blackout for the whole day.

But, the Wall WILL Fall on that day.

Let's get cracking.

Organize people into groups, and make plans with Mr. A if possible. Check the fictional's sites and Mr. A's twitter regularly. Check all the echoes to see if you can find any wall pieces.

Don't worry everyone is already on those plans. No need to remind us. ;)

... Or, the Wall won't actually fall, just major changes. A says the Wall's gonna be unstable, but something else might happen. This *is* unprecendented after all and A can't predict a lot of stuff 'cos its never happened.

So if we don't make it, it might just unleash a new batch of fictionals for us to capture?

I asked Mr. A if we need to close the wall after refictionalizing everyone, and he replied "WE ONLY NEED YOU TO REFICTIONALIZE THE CHARACTERS." That implies that finding the wall pieces isn't necessary before the 21st.

He says very specifically that he can repair the wall himself once he's ready: https://twitter.com/YouHaveFailedUs/sta ... 2389516288

However, it doesn't seem likely that he cares about repairing the wall if every fictional isn't refictionalized, so I would feel more comfortable collecting the pieces ourselves so we can repair the wall just in case we can't refictionalize everybody.

Well, I don't think we can "collect" them, exactly, seeing as they will reintegrate if, but yeah, I don't think it would be a bad idea to make sure we know where they are, just in case.

Okay look maybe we’re overreacting here. All cAke has said is THE WALL WILL BE UNSTABLE ON THE 21ST he hasn’t actually said it will FALL on that day.

Meta: And so far as I see, unless the Gms are trying to force us to get the wall pieces first (it’d be easier to get them in the time we have than to complete all the refics) it’d be unreasonable to place that kind of a time limit on us.

The wall is affected by narrative, right? So are real people. We CREATED the wall by imagining stuff, after all. An a narrative in place In Real Life right now that suggests the world ends on that date, due to a bunch of people predicting it in a 2000 year old calendar? That’s a pretty strong story, the kind of thing the wall is designed to hold up against. and for a few hours MANY PEOPLE WORLDWIDE will believe in that logic and anticipate (or at least vaguely, in the abck of their minds ponder) Doomsday

Maybe THAT'S the only reason the wall will be unstable, because people are THINKING about it being unstable. terry pratchett said days only have meaning because we GIVE them meaning: and we’ve made 21/12/2012 doomsday for decades. NATURALLY the wall will be affected, but that doesn’t mean it’ll FALL

I have no doubt that SOMETHING will happen, somebody will act of that I'm sure, but it may NOT be as bad as we're all assuming.

In other words, guys Keep Calm and Carry On Reficcing.

Direct enough?

That post is just evil. -.-'
It says it'll fall in 2012, not exactly on the 21st... So perhaps we can scrap a few more days off that? :hopeful:

That was simply a mistake on my part. :( It said "21 12 20 12".
WMG: The wall actually falls on 2112.20.12, and we have plenty of time.
