I've at least felt like I've faced Insurmountable Waist-High Fence in real life, and of course there are are related tropes about situational constraint: Follow the Plotted Line, No Sidepaths, No Exploration, No Freedom, and Broken Bridge.

And then the more direct forms of constraint: But Thou Must, You Can't Fight Fate, Because Destiny Says So, and Railroading.

Oh, I don't know ANYTHING about actual programming. All I'd meant that I'd do was write it as the text that would be displayed if someone (i.e., the Cat) had PLAYED a text adventure... if that makes sense?

I tried using RenPy a few years ago, but right now I don't have any Game Development gear installed... Just plain vanilla JAVA. Writing a full engine is beyond what I can do at the moment (and there's nowhere enough time for that) and I don't think I can learn another thing in time...

RPG Maker is awful for adventure type games. It can work, but requires heavy scripting to work adequately.
Game Maker is a better option, but I don't know how to use it, and it has no preset content that I know of, so you'll have look for pictures and sounds somewhere else... I don't know anything about a dedicated repository or how that works.

I can look at Twine. Never used it, didn't know it existed. Can't say whether I can make it work or not. I think it's research time.

Update on Twine. It is EXTREMELY EASY to use.
Think wiki markup. If you can add a trope to someone, you can make a story with Twine. Simple as that.

On the other hand, I have no idea whatsoever for a Ches refic. Alice nut and all, I'm not confident enough that I can write the cat's personality. But if someone does want to write it in an adventure game format and does not want to do the "coding" themselves, I'm open to build it into Twine. I sent a "hello World" to the chatroom, so if anyone wants to see what it looks like, just tell me. xD

In the very least, I don't think the cat should be a main character in the game. He just wouldn't fit.

I got Twine working, it is very easy to use. It seems like a story, or even video, based on a game might make sense. I'm going down a rabbit hole thinking about it, but then again, this is about Wonderland, right?
